Our story

A woman with glasses and long dark hair, smiling and wearing a black and white patterned shirt.

Ayobooks was founded by the artist, historian, and educator Dr. Ronke Ojo-Ajayi. Ayo means joy in Yoruba and it is with joy that we introduce Ayobooks to you! At Ayobooks we are constantly thinking of new educational materials that would serve the needs of parents and children interested in learning about the different cultures of Africa and the African diaspora.

About Us

A colorful portrait of a woman wearing glasses, jewelry, and a traditional African headwrap with red, white, and blue patterns.

We started out by first developing a series of West African language books and materials for children but have expanded to include other exciting products.

Ayobooks features beautifully illustrated stories about Africa and the African diaspora.

Our books teaches children about the history of Africa and the African diaspora.
